Thompson Public Library awarded $22,000 Praxair Foundation grant.

Through its Library Links program, Praxair Foundation has donated $22,000 to the Thompson Library for the purchase of computers, time and print management software and furniture for the public computer area. The Library has seen a steady increase of computer use in recent years.

The funds will allow the Library to meet a significant need in our community. As the world continues to move online, the expectation of companies, the government and services is that everyone has a computer at home to apply for a job, get help with benefits or fill out a form. Alison Boutaugh, Library Director states “The reality is we see people every day asking us for help online to accomplish basic things.”

This project is part of the Library’s Plan for the Future, adopted by the Board of Trustees in September 2009. The Plan addresses such things as technology and space issues. The computer area project is being investigated now, and will be completed later in the year.
